Project info
The new Harry Jerome Community Recreation Centre (HJCRC) is under construction in North Vancouver, BC. Embracing the City’s vision of A Healthy City for All, the new centre will ensure that the North Shore population has access to recreation facilities and activities that focus on physical and mental wellness, inclusion, accessibility, and diversity.
As the City’s largest-ever capital program, replacement of the current 56-year-old HJCRC includes an arena with seating for 500 spectators, expanded aquatic space, indoor and outdoor fitness areas, multipurpose rooms, preschool and youth spaces, a skate park, and a new facility for the Silver Harbour Senior’s Activity Centre.
Sustainability and accessibility are at the core of this design. The new facility aims to produce 40% less CO2 emissions than the existing centre and will be seamlessly connected to the Lonsdale Energy Corporation’s district energy system. Moreover, the new HJCRC is actively pursuing gold certification from the Rick Hansen Foundation. Key accessibility features include sensory-friendly washrooms, multiple accessible entrances to the pool, an inclusive community kitchen and more.
Our Scope
We are leading the electrical, structured cabling, and security scopes of the project. This includes lighting and lighting controls, fire alarm, video surveillance, access control, public address, and rough-in for communications systems and EV chargers.
In collaboration with the other trades on-site, we are contributing to a BIM model that integrates all building elements. This allows us to identify clashes and solve conflicts prior to construction in the field. Once completed, the model will serve as a valuable resource for future maintenance and renovation work.

Project info
The Northern Rockies Regional Recreation Centre project consisted of a 35,000 square foot addition to the existing complex. The construction included a new aquatic centre, child play area, public viewing area, fitness area, climbing wall, combined racquetball/squash court, a partial basement and third-storey mezzanine.
We delivered the security, building controls, and structured cabling scope, which included HVAC controls, pool controls, access control, CCTV, and a new fibre optics data network system. We also installed a custom lighting system in the natatorium—a 200 head total lighting rail on two sides of the pools. The lighting can be programmed to change colour for aesthetics and pre-programmed to play light shows with the use of a high-end lighting control system.
Despite several challenges, including an isolated location, limited access to materials, and extreme weather conditions, we were able to work with the facilities team and fellow trades to coordinate a successful installation. Through careful planning we adjusted our work areas and times to not interfere with the operating facility and we utilized prefabrication and nearby warehousing to reduce our on-site footprint.

Project info
This highly anticipated project brought the SFU community a permanent outdoor facility that’s transforming campus life – connecting students, alumni, and the community. The new stadium provides modernized amenities, seating, and spectacular sightlines beneath the stunning cantilevered canopy roof.
For this project, we provided electrical, lighting, security systems, structured cabling, and audio visual services. Our scope included underground, in-slab, and surface conduit work connecting precast elements with integrated light fixtures to the main building. We installed over 3,000 feet of in-slab conduit in the upper level to integrate the installation of light fixtures, speakers, and cameras into the wooden cantilevered roof – completing a 350-foot duct bank that had to be reinstated upon project completion.
The electrical scope of this project was uniquely challenging as it required a coordinated installation of our electrical through multiple precast elements all of which were fabricated off-site and craned into position. Each element had to come together with precision to deliver a cohesive structure that tied into the existing Lorne Davies Complex.

Project info
Clayton Community Centre has been an incredible addition to community life in Surrey, BC. With music and recording studios, a rehearsal hall, gymnasium, fitness centre, and library, this unique facility was created to promote arts and culture in the community. At completion, this impressive building was the first community centre to achieve Passive House certification in North America, and is Canada’s largest Passive House facility to date.
With the goal of reducing the building’s carbon footprint and meeting the high performance and comfort levels of the Passive House standard, this sustainable new build project was an exciting opportunity for us to use a wide range of our skills and services. We took on the main electrical scope as well as a full technology scope, including fire alarm and battery backup, lighting, security, structured cabling, and audio visual components.
For lighting, we installed 1,801 light fixtures including 63 7’x7’x7′ triangle LED lights designed to simulate daylight. Our security scope included access control, intrusion, code blue, and video management system. We installed shielded CAT6a to future-proof the building for increased network speeds, along with a DAS system for emergency response. For audio visual, we installed user device-friendly interfaces and digital reservation displays for each room and high-end speakers throughout the premise.
